Alexander Zverev against Brandon Nakashima head to head

Zverev won her only meeting at the US Open two years ago.

Zverev saves MP before getting past Baez

Dubbed in the first two movements, world no. 3 Alexander Zverev bounced back to win a five-set thriller against Sebastian Baez in the second round on Wednesday.

The third-seeded German didn’t have a single break point in the first set, converting the only one he had in the second. In contrast, Baez broke the German twice in each of the opening two sets to take a commanding lead.

Zverev increased his level by a few levels from the third set. While he wasn’t broken in the next two sets, he converted two break points each in the third and fourth to force the decider.

Baez took a 2-4 lead in the last set, but Zverev responded with a break in the very next game. Baez held a match point on Zverev’s serve when the score was 4: 5 (30:40), but the Argentine missed the chance. Zverev broke again in the next game and then held for a 2-6 4-6 6-1 6-2 7-5 win.

Zverev, who had little trouble finishing off Sebastian Ofner in the first round, is in the third round at Roland Garros for the sixth time in his seventh appearance.

Last year’s semifinalists are 26-9 on aggregate and 14-4 on clay this season. He’s hoping for another deep run this year and that epic second-round win would only have made him stronger.

Nakashima eliminates Griekspoor

Like Zverev, Brandon Nakashima also survived a fie set test in this tournament. But that was in the first round, as world No. 1. 75 defeated Poland’s Kamil Majchrzak in a three and a half hour match.

On Wednesday, Nakashima needed just three sets to knock out Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor and march into the third round in his main draw debut at the clay-court major.

It’s the first time the American has survived the second round of a major. The 20-year-old doesn’t have a lot of experience on clay courts, at any level, but two solid wins would have done his confidence a lot.

Against Griekspoor, Nakashima converted 5 break points from 9 and saved 6 from 8 to win the contest 7-6 (8-6), 6-4, 6-2 in two hours and 12 minutes.

Zverev v Nakashima prediction and tip

Zverev is the experienced player, he is far more successful on clay and is also the third seed. He is expected to roll into the fourth round with a straight win.
