Wildcat Wednesday – Supporting the Wildcat Way Through NIL initiatives

I would like to open this week’s Wildcat Wednesday by reiterating our commitment as the athletics department to empower student athletes with the opportunity to become academic, athletic and lifetime champions by supporting new NIL efforts. Name, Image and Likeness is an asset to the student-athlete experience that I wholeheartedly endorsed, and Arizona Athletics has been at the forefront of NIL in many ways.

In addition to providing education, the Arizona EDGE program has developed resources for our student-athletes to get involved in NIL activities, including launching a marketplace portal with INFLCR as the first school in the Pac-12. Key outside organizations have increased NIL opportunities for Arizona student-athletes over the past year with the Friends of Wilbur and Wilma Collective, the Arizona Assist Club, and the BPS Foundation.

As I wrote in my letter to the Wildcat Family last week, the next step is to raise awareness of how our incredible community and fans can enhance the Arizona student-athlete experience through NIL activities. These organizations are new ways to support student athletes alongside our Arizona EDGE Marketplace. This support comes at a critical time as we seek to maintain our competitive position in the Pac-12 and nationally. I ask each of you to discover how you can transform the lives of student-athletes, whether through membership or NIL-related engagement, as we ensure Arizona Athletics continues its legacy as one of the premier athletic divisions in the nation. Thank you again for your unwavering support of our athletics department and its student athletes.

We are pleased to announce that we have agreed to extend the contract of Head Football Coach Jedd Fisch, subject to approval by the Arizona Board of Regents. Coach Fisch has enhanced every facet of Arizona Football and laid a foundation for the program’s prosperous future. Jedd has signed Elite Recruitment Courses, racked up four more wins in his sophomore season, and forged a deep connection between the community and the program.

The future of Arizona Football looks bright under Coach Fisch, and we can’t wait to see what the program will achieve next. If you don’t already have season tickets, you can join us at Arizona Stadium in 2023 by paying a deposit now of just $75 per seat.

The holidays bring out the best of intentions in everyone, but we want to remind fans that providing student-athletes with gifts (including benefits/services at a reduced cost) may result in our student-athletes becoming ineligible. This also applies to everyone our teams bring in in the middle of the year. We appreciate your tremendous support for our student athletes and programs, but ask that you contact the Compliance Office at (520) 621-4796 before granting benefits to student athletes.
