TULSA, Oklahoma — Tulsa Pride was underway this weekend as thousands of people walked and lined the streets of downtown Tulsa.
The parade began at the 13th and Boston and ended at the Equality Center downtown.
While there was a party vibe, there was also a serious message that the LGBTQ+ community can express themselves.
FOX23 spoke to people in the parade who said they wanted to celebrate love and equality.
“We’re so excited to be a part of this historic year and we’re just excited, hot but excited,” Ryland Bristow said.
“It’s just a statement of what Tulsa is and what we are as a community, and it’s how powerful it is,” Alistar said.
“I’m so proud to be in Tulsa and to see all of this love and acceptance that makes this thing huge,” said Joshua Pennington.
2022 was the largest parade in Tulsa Pride history, with around 200 floats and thousands of people marching and lining the streets.
The rainbows, balloons, glittery tinsel, floats and banners were all part of an important message celebrating the struggles of the LGBTQ+ community.

“For decades we’ve been hiding and scared and feared and disgusted, so it’s important to march like this because we feared we were disgusted,” Lewis said.
With the fall of Roe v. Wade is concerned that changes to gay rights could be next.
Timothy Crisp said that makes Pride more important than ever.
Crisp was in the parade, representing Christ Church Episcopal dioceses
“Is it worrying? Yes, if I allow myself to live in fear, but I know that we will rise up as a community, stand as a community, and fight for what we deserve as a basic human right,” Crisp said.
