The name Gary seems to be making a comeback for a new generation of boys.

The nickname, which has fallen out of favor with millennial parents, has been included in a list of ‘trending’ baby names published by website UK Baby Names.

A few other unusual newborn names also made the list: John, Ian, and Paul.

Other traditional names on the boys trend list are: James, David, Peter, Jack, Oliver, Thomas and Matthew.

For the girls, Sarah makes the cut – with the less shocking Olivia and Emma.

Although he seems to be trending with parents, Gary has yet to make the top 100 names.

For the boys, Bill, Chad and Stuart have been included as nicknames that don’t inspire new parents.

The list, published by baby expert Bella Baby, used statistics from Baby Name UK and Google Trends to compile the results.

Among the least popular girl names was Angela, of Italian and English origin, at number 683 out of 5493.

Kimberly – meaning “from the forest of the royal forest” and “from the royal fortress meadow” – came to 1,013, and Alexa – a form of the masculine name Alexander – was 1687.

The name Nicole – of Greek origin – was also not convincing and ended up at number 279.

The Japanese geographic name Kobe made the boys list with 298 out of 5493, as did Jeffrey with 1825 out of 4608.
