In seven words – “Not today, you new world order boots” Nick Offerman made the internet as giddy as Ron Swanson ordering breakfast. Yes, The Last of Us Episode 3 trailer began with these words as survivor Bill (Offerman) was hiding in his bunker. This is perfect casting news, giving Nick Offerman a well-stocked bunker in the Cordyceps-infested world is like giving us a version of the alternate reality
Once Bill and his new pal Frank (The White Lotus alum Murray Bartlett) are done discussing Arby’s business model, they’ll be taking the audience on an amazing ride. However, I dare not say more to spoil the episode. The two characters were mentioned by Tess in last week’s chapter of the series, and in this episode Joel (Pedro Pascal) will bring Ellie (Bella Ramsey) to them for protection. And at the risk of exaggerating The Last of Us Episode 3, I’d like to note that this was the episode that made me start my list of “Best TV Episodes of 2023.” Oh, and I’ve seen it twice and enjoyed it both times.
We’re excited to see if Episode 3 of The Last of Us could break HBO Max’s servers as interest in the show seems to be rising. In our spoiler-free The Last of Us review, I just hinted at how emotionally powerful this episode is.
