SuperBook among the new sportsbooks for sports betting in Maryland

Two new mobile sportsbooks started their way to Maryland sports betting Thursday.

On Thursday the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Commission approved the qualifications of three MD sportsbook establishments and two mobile sportsbook license applicants, including super book. The five candidates will likely be on the agenda for that February 15 meeting the Examination Committee for Sports Betting Wagering Applicationswho must approve the licenses.

Sports betting in Maryland started with retail sports betting December 2021. Online sports betting in the state started in November 2022with seven mobile sports bets.

SuperBook drives sportsbook in Maryland

The SuperBook opportunity in Maryland became known when the operator partnered with the Baltimore Orioles last year. the SuperBook Sports Lounge at Camden Yards will open this year.

SuperBook applied for an online sportsbook license and qualifications as a sportsbook operator and online sportsbook operator. The Facility Operator License allows SuperBook to offer retail sports betting services to licensees. The Orioles were one of them 17 Businesses that are required to obtain a retail license in the MD sports betting legislation.

SuperBook has licenses in seven states:

Crab Sports ready for Maryland

The MLGCC determined an application as qualified Crab Sport Maryland for mobile sports betting. Crab Sports Maryland was partnered with Gaming Innovation GroupGiG, as operator partner.

According to the MLGCC presentation, Crab Sports Inc. was founded in 2021 as a private company with a management group of more than 20 years of experience in European gaming markets.

With as many as 60 mobile licenses available in Maryland, only 12 were granted by Thursday’s two motions.

Three more retail sportsbooks are coming to Maryland

The MLGCC has qualified three additional retail licenses:

  • Kathe P. Hospitality Per Michael on the South River in Riva
  • Canton Gaming Per The Greene Turtle Sports Bar & Grille in Canton
  • Canton Gaming for The Greene Turtle Sports Bar & Grille in towson

Canton cooperates with Parx Interactive as a plant operator. Käthe P. Hospitality has not announced an operating partner.

Sports betting in Maryland continues to grow

according to a Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency Report this month, online sports betting took off in Maryland $478.2 million in December bets in the first full month of operation.

fan duel dominated the market 49.4% of the handle or $236.2 million.

Betfred, betPARX and Fanatics Sportsbook also have online licenses but have not started yet. Earlier this month, Fanatics began its sportsbook journey with the opening of its first retail sportsbook FedExField.
