The Notre Dame trainers go on tour on Monday 5th December. The Fighting Irish coaching staff will be across the country. As always, Irish Illustrated and 247Sports have updated you on the whereabouts of the staff.
According to sources, we met this defensive line coach Al Washington will see some talented prospects from the west coast. Notre Dame wants to make a splash with the five-star edge rusher in the Class of 2024 Elijah Rushing and Washington is expected to stop by Salpointe Catholic High School in Tucson, Ariz. to meet the No. 10 overall in the country. Landing the 6-6, 235-pounder won’t be easy, but the Irish already had him on campus and believe they at least have a chance with him. That’s all you can ask for at this point.
247Sport Scouting Report: Long, raised frame with plus-plus wingspan. Of large stature with great physical potential to add bulk. Explosive edge rusher with impressive mobility. Flash’s Elite Pass Rush ability with a variety of moves. Shows great flexibility to bend and maneuver past blocks. Shows excellent hand use for release while maintaining forward momentum. Attacks gaps in a targeted manner and shows counter-attacking ability. Could further increase power and improve running support. Potential multi-year starter at elite power five level and projects as a Day 1 NFL Draft pick.
Additionally, Washington is expected to see the Class of 2024 three-star edge rusher at Yuma Catholic in Yuma, Arizona Jason Jones. The 6-3, 215-pounder is a top 10 prospect in the state of Arizona and his roster includes Notre Dame, Oregon, USC, Utah and many others. He’s currently committed to the Washington Huskies, but there’s a lot of smoke about him heavily considering others, including the Fighting Irish.
Irish Illustrated’s Kevin Sinclair spoke to Jones back in October. Here’s what he had to say.
“Well, I mean, that’s an offer every kid dreams of, you know? Even as a little kid you look at them on TV and you’re like, “Man, I wish I could play there one day,” stuff like that. It’s just such a respected school,” Sinclair said. “It just makes me happy to know that I got an offer from a school like this.
“Well, (I’ve been talking) mostly (with) Coach Washington,” he added. “You started texting me about a week ago, a couple of weeks ago. And we recently got in touch to build that relationship. I only met coach Washington for the first time last Friday and we spoke on the phone a bit. Those are really good people over there, you know? You can tell that besides football they really care about you as a person. I love it.”
