Northampton Football pulls Catasauqua away to win in 99th meeting

The Northampton football team scored 21 of the last 23 points as the Konkrete Kids defeated Catasauqua 42-12 at home on Thanksgiving Day in the 99th all-team meeting.

Junior wide receiver/defensive back Tristen Pinnock totaled five touchdowns to earn MVP for Northampton, who claimed their eighth straight win in the rivalry.

The Concrete Kids quickly turned turnover on downs into points when senior Antonino Russo found Pinnock for a 73-yard touchdown pass to give Northampton a 14-0 lead eight seconds later.

The Rough Riders capitalized on a bad snap on a punt and senior quarterback Christian Fye scored on a 1-yard touchdown run to reduce Northampton’s lead to 21-10 with 1:35 in the second quarter. After Catasauqua senior Wyatt Younes caught a throwback pass from Fye on a trick play on the opening kickoff of the 3rd and returned it 59 yards to Northampton’s 21-yard line, junior linebacker AJ Slivka came on with an interception at the Concrete Kids ‘4 to fall-yard line on a fourth and five to stop Catasauqua’s scoring opportunity.

Northampton maintained a 21-10 lead with 6:30 in the third quarter when the Rough Riders missed a 41-yard field goal.

Pinnock ran for a 1-yard touchdown to give the Konkrete Kids a 28-10 advantage with 2:36 in the third quarter.

Concrete Kids Senior Jaelen Richardson returned a punt 60 yards for a touchdown to open a 25-point lead with 40 seconds remaining in the third.

Top performers: Pinnock caught four passes for 106 yards and three touchdowns. The junior also rushed to two points. The Northampton MVP ended the win with a last-play interception.

Concrete Kids Junior Caden Henritzy ran for 160 yards with 15 carries.

Russo completed 11 of 19 passes for 203 yards left with three touchdowns and an interception.

Richardson had the punt return for a touchdown and also an interception in the fourth quarter for Northampton.

Slivka finished the game with two interceptions, including a one-handed grab in the second quarter.

Catasauqua senior Anthonie Hunsicker finished his high school career with 91 yards on 29 carries. He rushed for 1,000 yards that season and was named the Rough Riders MVP of the game.

Faye rushed for a touchdown and scored in a 35-yard field goal for the Rough Riders.

What it means: The Concrete Kids continued their Thanksgiving winning streak, ending the season with a 12-1 record. The 12 wins tie a program record set by Northampton last season.

The Rough Riders ended their season with a 7-6 record.

Northampton lead the eternal rivalry streak 62-33-4.
