This week’s episode of Monday Night RAW celebrated the 30th anniversary of WWE’s flagship show. There were some notable absences from the show, particularly when it came to female legends.

Nikki Bella and Brie Bella expressed their disappointment that WWE hadn’t booked any Female Legends for the show and had little presence during the three-hour run. Even the Steel Cage match between Becky Lynch and Bayley had to be scrapped due to time constraints, drawing the ire of many.

This led to #WWEWomenDeserveBetter trending on social media. Speaking in an Instagram video, Nikki Bella addressed the hashtag that has been trending on social media and thanked fans for all of the support.

“I also love the fans for standing up for women. There’s so many crybabies, ‘Oh they’re just wine.’ Let me tell you why people get upset. This speaks for the majority of women. ‘Oh, they always do it about her.’ No, just because we speak up doesn’t mean it’s about us. It’s about the women from the beginning to those who are there. I understand why so many people get upset, especially our fans, when it’s something like Raw 30. I remember when I first started watching Raw as you all know some of you liked to give me shit that I wasn’t a fan the day I was born.

I was obsessed with the matches with Beth Phoenix, Candice Michelle, Melina, Mickie James. That was for me and my era of wrestling when I became a fan, Raw for me. People all have their own memories and that’s why it’s so important that women are represented because for so many fans they have their different eras from Chyna, Lita and Trish (Stratus), Melina, Mickie, Michelle (McCool), Beth , Candice (Michelle), those incredible women of that time. Then our era with AJ (Lee), Paige, Brie and I and so on. I think it’s great that you’re doing the hashtag and you’re going to see a lot of narratives play out because people need to protect themselves and you’re going to blame a lot of women and people are going to call them crybabies. No, we put just as much effort and work into it. All these women do it, all of them, from every era. Not just women, men too.”

The Bella Twins did not appear on RAW is XXX due to creative differences. They didn’t like that WWE didn’t represent the women’s revolution during the show. Saraya also supported her decision not to participate in the show.

We’ll have to see what’s next for the WWE Women’s Division. Triple H has been trying to do more for the division, but it looks like there’s still work to be done.
