It’s been a month since MLive released its inaugural top 50 high school football recruit rankings for Michigan’s Class of 2023, so it’s time for an update. Commitments have started to rise and will continue to do so over the summer months. Still, some of the highest ranking recruits are still available, including the one at the top.
If you have an athlete that you think should be considered for this list, email ja[email protected] with the athlete’s name and information.
NEW COMMITMENTS
Amare Snowden, DB, Roseville
Commitment: Cincinnati
Snowden, one of the state’s top 15 recruits, committed to transferring to Cincinnati on June 12, more than 40 other schools he had offers from. Snowden, a three-time athlete who also plays basketball and baseball for Roseville, also committed to playing baseball for the Bearcats. He has a four star rating from the 247Sports composite rankings. Last season, he had 27 tackles (one tackle for a loss) and three interceptions — one of which was returned for a TD. On offense, he had 30 receptions for 376 yards and seven touchdowns.
Drew Viotto, QB, Walled Lake Western
Commitment: Minnesota
Viotto was originally committed in eastern Michigan but was released within days in late May and re-committed to Minnesota. In fact, he broke away from the Eagles the same day the Golden Gophers offered it. A top 20 recruit in the MLive rankings, Viotto is another QB in a long line of Walled Lake Western stars at the position. Last season, he threw for 2,050 yards and 22 touchdowns with a 68 percent completion rate.
Luke Fletcher, DE, Port Huron Northern
Commitment: Eastern Michigan
Although Eastern lost Viotto as a commit, it found great talent in Fletcher around the same time. Fletcher, who is billed as the top talent from the St. Clair County area this coming fall, had 10 offers before settling on Eastern Michigan.
Luke Zanotti, OL, Bay City Central
Commitment: Western Michigan
He committed to western Michigan back May 19, picking the Broncos over offers from central Michigan, eastern Michigan and others. The 6-foot-4, 275-pounder didn’t allow a sack for Bay City Central all season last fall.
Lorenzo Williams Jr., CB, West Bloomfield
Commitment: Western Michigan
Williams is expected to excel in a stacked West Bloomfield defense this fall. With a dozen offers, he signed for Western Michigan on June 3 and has a three-star rating from the 247Sports Composite.

TOP PLAYERS STILL AVAILABLE
There are still three players in the MLive top 10 yet to sign, including the top ranks Dante Moore, Detroit Martin Luther King’s five-star quarterback. According to the 247Sports rankings, Moore is currently No. 4 in QB and No. 12 overall in the nation’s 2023 class. With over 40 offers, Moore set school records for passing yards (3,050) and passing touchdowns (40) last season.
Also available is Detroit Cass Tech’s Jalen Thompson, who is a four-star defender with over 30 offers. 247Sports is currently projecting him as a Michigan State staffer. Last year he finished with 42 tackles (14 for losses), 10 sacks and 18 QB pressures. He also had six pancake blocks in offensive tackle in seven games.
There is also Clarkston offensive lineman Cole Dellinger who is currently projected by 247Sports as a Michigan State employee. Cole, the younger brother of LSU lineman Garrett Dellinger, is also heavily recruited by LSU.
