What you should know
The Temple Owls have enjoyed the comforts of home for the past three games, but now they must head out. Temple and the Memphis Tigers will meet in an American Athletic bout on Saturday noon ET at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium. These two teams come into the game stronger, strengthened by victories in their previous games.
The Owls kept a clean sheet against the Massachusetts Minutemen last week, wiping out Contest 28. The matchup was all but complete by the end of the third, by which time Temple had built up a 21-to-none advantage. Her WR Adonicas Sanders filled the stat sheet, catching four passes for a TD and 101 yards. EJ Warner’s 50-yard touchdown toss against Sanders in the fourth quarter made for one of the most memorable moments of the afternoon.
Temple’s defense was also present as it passed UMass’s offensive line to sack the quarterback four times for a total loss of 22 yards. It was a group effort with five people contributing.
Meanwhile, Memphis had one touchdown and one substitution left in a 44-34 win over the North Texas Mean Green last week. Memphis’ RB Brandon Thomas was one of the team’s most active players, scoring two quick touchdowns.
The Owls need to know that given the 18.5 point margin they’re up against, they’re going to have an uphill battle. However, it might be worth taking a risk against the spread as they are currently on a streak of two ATS wins.
