The 2022 US Women’s Open, the biggest women’s tournament of the year, begins this week in Pine Needles, North Carolina. Here’s everything you need to know to watch the tournament.
How to watch the US Women’s Open
This year, the best women golfers will compete for the US Women’s Open crown on another classic American golf course. Designed by legendary architect Donald Ross, Pine Needles previously hosted three Women’s Opens in 1996, 2001 and 2007.
One of the main stories of the second major of the year is the return of American star Nelly Korda. Korda has been out since March while recovering from a blood clot that forced her to miss the first major of the year, the Chevron Championship. Korda has never won the US Women’s Open, although her first major win came at last year’s KPMG Women’s PGA Championship.

She faces a strong field with player-who took No. 1 from Korda Jin Young Ko, world No. 3 Lydia Ko and rising star Jennifer Kupcho, who won her first major at the Chevron in March. Michelle Wie West will also be in the field for the foreseeable future for her last LPGA launch, she said.
And there’s the money. Earlier this year, the USGA announced that thanks to new presenting sponsor ProMedica, the US Women’s Open prize purse would nearly double to $10 million in 2022, by far the largest prize purse in LPGA history. The winner will take home a whopping $1.8 million.
