Finding a good game on sale can be like looking for a needle in a haystack. Even if a game on sale catches your interest, sometimes you need an extra push to make the purchase.
What if we told you there was a way to get multiple games at a massive discount while still being able to choose where your money went? Look no further, Humble Bundle is here!
What is Humble Bundle?
Humble Bundle is a digital storefront offering a limited-time selection of video games, books, and software bundles at heavily discounted prices. Launched in 2010, the Humble Indie Bundle was the first of its kind. Buyers can pay whatever they want for a bundle of indie games.
The bundle came with World of Goo, Aquaria, Gish, Lugaru HD, Penumbra: Overture, and Samorost 2 games. Purchasing the bundle at any price above a penny would net buyers a Steam key that activates all six games. Pretty sweet deal, right?
Humble Bundle has grown into something much bigger over the years. Since 2010, Humble Bundle has released several successful bundles, including the Heal COVID-19 Bundle, which raised $1.2 million for charity. However, the latest bundles from Humble Bundle now have a minimum price to pay that varies from bundle to bundle.
In addition to Bundles, Humble Bundle now offers Humble Choice and the Humble Store. Humble Choice is a monthly subscription aimed at gamers and offers a variety of benefits such as free games, access to the Humble Games Collection, and discounts. On the other hand, Humble Store offers thousands of games and is comparable to a platform like Steam.
How Humble Bundle Supports Charities
What makes Humble Bundle truly unique is its ability to offer games at a discount while also supporting charities. So how does Humble Bundle do that? Most packages come with a charity they support. For example, the Humble Bundle Gems of 2022 Bundle supports the Global FoodBanking Network (GFN).
To purchase the entire seven-item bundle, consider a minimum payment of $15.59. To put things in perspective, the Gems of 2022 Bundle would typically cost around $159.00. For every bundle purchased, 15-30% goes to the Humble Bundle team. Apart from that, you are free to split the rest of your money as you see fit using the deal’s sliders.
In this example, you could assign the rest of your purchase to the GFN and not send anything to the game publishers, or vice versa. While most Humble Bundles come with a specific charity they support, others let you choose from over 35,000 charities to choose from.
If there aren’t any Humble Bundles that you like, you can buy games individually from the Humble Store. Better yet, you can donate up to 10% of your purchase by opting into the Humble Rewards program. If you’re not feeling charitable, you can add that 10% to your Humble Wallet and use it towards future purchases instead.
