Let’s see what the pundits have to say about his fantasy football perspective:

Trey Lance falls into Best Ball ADP as reports surface that he’s underwhelming at OTAs and Jimmy Garoppolo remains on the list. But after the 49ers reporters butchered the Trey-Sermon situation last season and the 49ers’ massive investment in Lance last year, I view this situation as an easy buy-low scenario. Garoppolo’s shoulder surgery is the reason he wasn’t traded. Once he’s deemed healthy, I would expect him to be moved to a QB-needy team or to a squad that sustained an injury at the position. Lance only started two games but showed the rush that thrilled fantasy executives during draft season. The 49ers’ first-year signal caller averaged 22.4 expected fantasy points and 60 rushing yards per game.

Any day Jimmy Garoppolo stays on the 49ers roster threatens Trey Lance’s starting spot, but as of this writing I’m still predicting he’ll start this season. In the short two-game rehearsal of Lance that started last year, we got a glimpse of the biggest factor in his fantasy ceiling: rushing to the top. In those two games, Lance averaged 12 carries and 60 yards on ground as the QB20 and QB10 in weekly scoring. Even with Garoppolo leading, the 49ers were sixth in EPA per game and second in yards per game. Lance’s legs give him a top 12-15 fantasy quarterback floor with the top five up should he shine it through the air.
