Beauty Company Faces Backlash: Why Is #BoycottMamaEarth Trending Online?

New Delhi: Beauty products company Mamaearth is facing backlash for allegedly backing Richa Chadha’s Galwan tweet. Internet users had previously called for a “boycott of Fukrey 3”.

The brand said in a tweet that Richa’s statement could be interpreted as a sign of the army’s strength in the Galwan Valley. The actress, who recently tied the knot with Ali Fazal, has come under fire for her comment on the Indian army and the Galwan clash. Richa received fierce backlash after allegedly “ridiculing” the Indian Army and the martyrs of the Galwan Valley incident. She tweeted, “Galwan says hi.” Hours later, however, the actress pulled the post down and apologized for it.

Netizens were already furious with Richa’s tweet when Indian company Mamaearth said the words “Galwan says hello” were inconclusive and that it was about perspective in a tweet that has now been deleted. Angered by this, tweeple start posting the screenshot of Mama Earth’s comment with the boycott trend.

One user wrote: “Mama Earth deleted her tweet. I used to buy their products for my little nieces and from now on I will stop buying @mamaearthindia products and I will urge everyone around me to boycott their products. Enough is enough #BoycottMamaEarth. Another said: “I’ll throw away from Mamaearth any products I use if they can’t find anything offensive in this tweet. Then here we are with our answer. #BoycottMamaEarth.”
