With those two wins, Anisimova has improved her record to 22-8 and now finds herself in 28th place.
Their clay court preparations could not have gone better; Despite failing to reach a final, the 20-year-old made it to the penultimate rounds in Charleston, Madrid and Rome. In these tournaments, Amanda defeated the likes of Aryna Sabalenka, Belinda Bencic, Danielle Collins, and Victoria Azarenka.
She also won the Melbourne Set 1 earlier in the year. She’s also a Junior French Open finalist – with that kind of pedigree you can imagine why she’s a main contender for the distance in Paris.
Muchova upsets Sakkari
Karolina Muchova had a late start to the season due to injury; She started the tour only at the Miami Open and then performed in Madrid and Rome.
Her record in those three events is 3-2, culminating in sunny Florida where she reached the third round before retiring against Naomi Osaka.
