The American Rescue Dog Show will premiere tonight in a tail-wagging event to promote homeless and rescue dog adoption and help dogs across America find forever homes. The competition is a two-hour event that will last only one night and will air tonight at 9 p.m. PT/ET on Wednesday, May 25 on ABC.

Throughout the event, dogs of all breeds (mixed and purebred), ages and abilities will showcase their skills by competing in ten different categories. Unlike the Westminster Dog Show, which judges puppies based on their obedience skills and breed traits, the American Rescue Dog Show celebrates the dogs who are great at belly rubbing, watching TV, snoring, wiggling and just plain good to be dogs.
Because the purpose of this event is to raise awareness and encourage responsible pet owners to adopt animals instead of buying from breeders, a $10,000 donation will be made to an animal non-profit organization on behalf of each category winner. An additional $100,000 will be donated in honor of the dog winning the Best in Rescue championship. The evening promises to be heartwarming, fun and a little teary-eyed; and will be moderated by Rob Riggle and Joe Tessitore. Stars Paula Abdul, Leslie Jordan and Yvette Nicole Brown will judge.
