25 GAMES PER HOUR Returns to the Hollywood Fringe in June

Theater Unleashed is back to selling out live theater and the company thought there was no better way to celebrate than with a revival of one of its most beloved and critically acclaimed brands.

As such, 25 Plays Per Hour is back at the Hollywood Fringe Festival with June performances in the studio/on stage. The rebirth of the “Super Short”, 25PPH features 25 new original shorts starring a handful of the company’s best actors playing over 50 characters in just one hour! Fusing comedy, drama and everything in between, these amazing pieces are arranged in a specific order to provide an emotional core and a unique line of passage to create a theatrical journey for audiences in 60 minutes or less. It’s speed theater at its finest!

“25 Plays Per Hour embodies everything I love about Theater Unleashed,” said Artistic Director Jenn Crafts, who also appears on the show. “Over the years we have assembled an incredible group of writers who are always up for a challenge. So whenever we produce 25PPH it’s always fresh and brand new and audiences always think it’s one of our best shows.”

Originally created by former Artistic Director Jacob Smith, 25 PPH last played at the Fringe in 2014 and has been nominated for Best Ensemble multiple times and selected as Best of Fringe, as well as by some local press critics.

This year’s production features scripts by fourteen different writers and starring seven actors, many of whom you’ve seen in previous Fringe productions over the years. The show is also co-hosted by two Fringe vets: Corey Lynn Howe and Travis Joe Dixon.

“These stories range from the practical to the downright absurd,” Dixon said. “The sheer genius of 25 PPH is that if a story doesn’t resonate with you, you don’t have to wait long for one to do. First dates, current affairs, bodily functions, misunderstandings, candid confessions, and even a musical… If there’s at least one subject that you don’t relate to to the core, you might want to check your pulse.”

This production marks the first for Theater Unleashed since last Fringe, which premiered the award-winning play (It’s Been 76 Years and We’re) Still Waiting for Lefty. Like this production, the company will again offer live streaming options for viewers who can’t do the show or aren’t yet comfortable seeing theater in person.

But there’s nothing quite like seeing it live, especially for a show like this!

“We’re going to bring the fierce along with the hearty laugh,” Howe said. “This is going to be a rough, good time!”
